As the official representative of the Ministry of Interior Irina Volk told RT, the police received statements from three citizens who reported the loss of personal belongings in the territory of the Volgograd airport.
Upon their appeals, the Investigations Department of the Volgograd Linear Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia on transport initiated a criminal case under point “c” of the second part of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of Russia “Theft committed with causing significant damage to a citizen”
“Police officers found that eight employees of the airline from August last year to the present time stole jewelry, cash and expensive equipment from passengers' baggage. Thefts were committed in the cargo hold of the aircraft, both on departure and on arrival of the aircraft, ”said Wolf.
Damage from the actions of intruders is estimated at over 500 thousand rubles.
By this time, nine people are passing as suspects in the case, in addition to eight airport employees, another woman may be involved in thefts, whose role was to sell the stolen property.
Two of the suspects, the court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention, another one was sent under house arrest. The remaining defendants are under a subscription on their own recognizance.
As reported by Wolf, the police are currently checking suspects for involvement in other similar criminal episodes.
Earlier, URA.RU reported that in the Chelyabinsk region a court arrested a suspect in the theft of nearly 22 million rubles from a mail vault.
