“The decisions taken by the Council on External Relations of the EU yesterday will in no way affect Turkey’s determination to continue hydrocarbon-related activities in the Eastern Mediterranean,” Anadolu said in a ministry statement.

As noted by the Office, the decisions of the EU do not mention the Turkish Cypriots, who "have equal rights to the resources of Cyprus."

Earlier, the foreign ministers of the EU countries approved the imposition of sanctions against Turkey because of the exploration of hydrocarbon deposits in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus.

In particular, the head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini, was tasked with working out possible measures against Turkey.

As Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Alexander Grushko noted in a conversation with Izvestia, the EU’s moves may hinder the political process to resolve the conflict.
