French tennis player Jérémy Chardy qualified on Tuesday for the second round of the Bastad tournament in Sweden, struggling to overcome Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta in three sets.

The 32-year-old, 80th in the world, won 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 his fight against the 53rd World, who went through the qualifications of this clay court tournament. In the second round, the Palois will face the No. 1 seed Cristian Garin, 37th in the world, against whom he lost in Houston this year.

The tournament stops however for Constant Lestienne, 198th world, beaten by Spaniard Albert Ramos-Vinolas, 99th world, 6-1, 7-5.
