The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry advised the Ukrainian authorities to follow the course chosen by the citizens of the country.
“We really have to take the road that was planned by Kiev, Kiev public activists, people, civil society. This is the road to European values, ”TASS cites Zakharova’s words on the Russia-1 TV channel.
But for this, according to her, it is required to re-evaluate the concept of European civilization.
“It is necessary to update the whole layer of legal in consciousness, the whole layer of what constitutes the concept of European civilization, study it and move forward,” the diplomat noted.
She also stressed that relations between Moscow and Kiev are still “there is something to work on” and it is too early to talk about positive changes.
“There is a big sphere of Kyiv’s activities and responsibilities, a plan of action has been outlined for a long time - these are the Minsk agreements ... After that, when all this will be implemented in practice, optimism can begin,” Zakharova concluded.
Earlier, the leader of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, said that during the first telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, he raised the issue of the return of Ukrainian sailors detained for illegally crossing the Russian border in the Kerch Strait.
The Kremlin noted that the conversation of the leaders was “rather pragmatic” and lasted about 20 minutes.
