Sudan has been waiting for more than a week to sign a power-sharing agreement. The compromise was announced last week. It provided for a transition of three years and three months as well as a division of posts in the Sovereign Council, the body that must govern the country until elections. However, the dialogue dragged on, without being broken.

Officially postponed for technical reasons, the signing of the transition agreement is long overdue. On Saturday night, Sunday, July 14, the Sudanese Professionals' Association (APS) announced it met with the military on Thursday night and held talks until dawn.

According to the APS, both parties would still agree to a 39-month transition , with the same power sharing within the Sovereign Council. The formation of the new Assembly would be delayed by three months and the creation of a commission of inquiry would be maintained. The document would also require support from the international community.

According to the APS, a new version of the text was produced Friday. " We have a lot of observations, " says the organization, suggesting further delays as these successive delays fuel suspicion. The Communist Party has already said that it would not recognize the final agreement because it did not provide for an international investigation or reform of the security forces.

Meanwhile, the protest movement starts again in a cycle of actions. The big events on Saturday will be followed by a week of tribute to the victims, with rallies, seminars, production of works of art or a project of monuments to the memory of the martyrs.
