The "Mahevi Akbar" program revealed a secret plan coordinated by Bahraini intelligence in 2003 with al-Qaeda leaders to target Bahraini dissidents.

Al-Jazeera's program said Bahraini intelligence had recruited an al-Qaeda leader to lead a cell to assassinate Bahraini dissidents.

The program pointed out that three officials of the National Security Agency were involved in the scheme directly commissioned by the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The program said that the assassination list included political leaders in the Bahraini opposition, headed by Abdel Wahab Hussein.

He added "What is the greatest hidden" that the King of Bahrain personally intervened with Riyadh to release Mohammed Saleh, leader of the assassination cell.
