Simon Pagenaud (Penske) of France, winner of the Indianapolis 500 in May, won the Toronto GP, 11th of the 17 rounds of the IndyCar Championship, ahead of reigning New Zealand champion Scott Dixon on Sunday.

Author of the pole position, Pagenaud thus removes his 3rd victory of the year after controlling the race from end to end, his only concern about the return of Dixon (Chip Ganassi) at the end of the game and the management of his fuel consumption . In addition to 500 miles, he also won the Indianapolis GP.

The Canadian podium was completed by American Alexander Rossi (Andretti), 3rd just ahead of his compatriot Josef Newgarden (Penske), leader of the Championship with a total of 434 points, 39 more than his teammate Pagenaud. Rossi remains Newgarden's runner-up with four fewer units.

Finally, the French Sebastien Bourdais, crowned four times in ChampCar (championship since absorbed by the IndyCar) between 2003 and 2007, took the 8th place, the same as that achieved in qualifying. He is 11th in the Championship with 232 points.

The next IndyCar Championship event will take place at the Iowa 300 GP on Saturday, July 20th.
