The British Alexander Sims (BMW) will start in pole position for the 2nd race Sunday of the New York Electric Formula ePrix, which will see the 2019 discipline champion crowned.

Sims beat Dutchman Robert Frijns (Envision) and Switzerland's Sébastien Buemi (Nissan), winner of the first race on Saturday.

The Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne, leading the championship before this last race, could not do better than 12th, just behind his main opponent for the title, the Brazilian Lucas Di Grassi (Audi).

In the championship, and after 12 events, Vergne has 130 points, ahead of Di Grassi (108), the New Zealander Mitch Evans (Jaguar) with 105 and Buemi with 104.

These four men keep their chances of being crowned in the last race of the championship on Sunday with the winner scoring 25 points, with three more points for pole position and one point for the lap record (if its author finishes in the top 10 ).

Jean-Eric Vergne, 29, was crowned champion of the discipline last year on the same circuit, drawn in the port of Brooklyn opposite Manhattan.

The start of the race will be given at 16:00 local time (20:00 GMT).
