François Ruffin (on the right) pushed the ditty for the 14 of July. Before him, Jean-Luc Mélenchon (left) had revisited a song by Brassens. GERARD JULIEN / AFP

On the benches of the hemicycle or on the pavements, François Ruffin is known for his rants. At the same time deputy and director, he was even rewarded for his documentary Thank you, boss! in defense of the workers' struggles. But on the occasion of 14-July, he starts the song with his version of "La Marseillaise", a new attack against the government.

We had to dare. And yet the member of the Somme François Ruffin did it. On the occasion of the 14th of July, the punk band La Horde asked him to revisit "La Marseillaise".

And the MP took up the challenge by changing the French anthem he called "My Marseillaise". He unveiled on Twitter his version based on guitars and anticapitalist lyrics.

MA MARSEILLAISE (ft. The Horde)

On the occasion of July 14, the punk band the Horde asked me to revisit the Marseillaise. I said "yes", because "I fancy to put in my life a little bit of fantasy"! #MaMarseillaise # 14Juillethttps: //t.co/TV6GpiYW6Q

A song with a political purpose

The meeting is unusual between the rock band and the MP affiliated to the insubordinate France . The message in this song is political.

" Do you see them on TV these billionaires, these CEOs, just good to ramble ? Work more to earn more, consume more and produce more, you have to sell well to buy and export to import, "sings the deputy of the Somme, accompanied by his orchestra, the group The Horde.

The singers lend their voice to the chorus: " Let's go children, from my country, the day of hope has arrived, " they sing repeatedly. The critics on Macronie fuse in this hymn to freedom. But this is not the first time that rebels try their hand at the song.

In 2018, during François Ruffin's " Fête à Macron ", Jean-Luc Mélenchon took over "Les Copains d'abord" from Brassens to make "Les Nantis First", a criticism directly addressed to the President of the Republic.

Even if he won a Caesar for his movie Thank you boss ! , François Ruffin does not aim at a Victory of the music. He rather hopes that his fight song will become the new soundtrack of social movements.
