The Central Council of German Jews denounces the sale of openly anti-Semitic works, and recalls the "great moral and social responsibility" of Amazon.

The Central Council of German Jews denounced Saturday the sale of Amazon anti-Semitic books and articles glorifying Nazism.

It is "absolutely unacceptable for T-shirts and stickers to be sold via Amazon, glorifying Nazism, or inciting hatred of minorities," laments President of the Central Council, Josef Schuster, in an interview with the RND group.

Central Council wants systematic criminal prosecution

The global e-commerce giant carries "a great moral and social responsibility," adds Joseph Schuster, who believes that Amazon can not hide behind its only role as a "supplier". "We expect a company like Amazon, as well as responsible authorities, to immediately remove these items from circulation and systematically initiate criminal prosecution," he adds.

He points in particular to the sale of openly anti-Semitic works, such as "Der Jude als Weltparasite" ("The Jew as a world parasite") or "Judas: the world enemy". The first book was actually available Saturday morning, for 20 euros, on the online sales platform.

Stickers and T-Shirts

The Central Council is also alarmed by the sale of stickers or t-shirts bearing inscriptions in gothic letters such as "Auch ohne Sonne braun" ("Even without brown sun") or "Nordische Wut kennt keine keine Gnade "(" Nordic rage knows no pity, no pity "), actually on sale on Amazon. Solicited by RND, Amazon did not wish to comment.

In 2017, the Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem asked the mail-order company to ban the sale of Holocaust denial books on its website. The letter was accompanied by photos of negationist books put on sale to support the memorial's request, including "The Leuchter Report", a pseudo-scientific document that attempts to demonstrate that the gas chambers did not exist.
