Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas that he will continue his work with the American and Israeli sides to promote a two-state solution to the Palestinian issue.

This came during a lengthy and in-depth telephone conversation between Abbas and Putin, in which "all the issues were discussed, both in relation to the deal of the century or the position of the Manama meeting or the position on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital."

According to the agency, Abbas explained to Putin "the crisis situation in the relationship with Israel, as well as daily violations."

Abbas said that «the Russian effort on the subject of Palestinian reconciliation is important and appreciated, and we are committed to the Cairo 2017 agreement, and ready to implement it in full».

The two presidents affirmed their support for the Egyptian role and its importance in achieving reconciliation. This comes at a time when 24 Palestinians were wounded by the Israeli occupation east of the Gaza Strip, during the activities of Friday 66 of the march of return, while the West Bank witnessed a demonstration against the confiscation of land in the village of Kafr Qaddum.
