The fireworks will be fired on July 13th, and not on the 14th, three years after the terrible attack that left 86 dead on the Promenade des Anglais.

The city of Nice organizes Saturday evening, July 13, the first fireworks display for the National Day since the deadly attack on July 14, 2016. The fireworks fired at 22H from a barge opposite the Quai des Etats-Unis. United, in the extension of the promenade des Anglais, will however be shot July 13, not the 14, at the request of associations representing the families of victims. A firework display had already been proposed last year, but on August 15, from this same location, as well as another one the previous month but close to the port. The theme chosen this year for the fireworks is that of "renaissance" and "return to life", says the city of Nice, and it will be accompanied by "music with hope".

Tribute to the victims on July 14

A tribute to the victims is planned on July 14th itself, with a worship ceremony in the morning at the Villa Masséna and a concert of the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra in the garden Albert-1 at the end of which, at 22H34 sharp, time of the attack of 2016, 86 light beams will be projected in the sky from the waterfront. July 14, 2016, the attack on the Promenade des Anglais, after the fireworks, by the Tunisian Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, and claimed by the Islamic State organization, had, according to a report provided by the Guarantee Fund that compensates the victims, 86 killed, 206 wounded and 1,360 traumatized people.
