“24 years to Vitaly Markiv is an unfair and shameful decision of the Italian court. It will be appealed. Our guardsman and Ukraine are not to blame for the death of reporter Rokkelli, ”he wrote.

At the same time, he expressed the opinion that Markiv "was the victim of an aggressive Russia."

Earlier, an Italian court sentenced Markiv to 24 years in prison in the case of the death in the Donbass Rokkelli.

Markiv, who has citizenship of Ukraine and Italy, was detained in the summer of 2017 in Bologna.

In May 2014, Italian journalist Andrea Rokkelli and his translator Andrei Mironov, a Russian citizen, were killed under Slavic, shot at them with mortar shells. The investigation later found out that the Italian reporter had been shot at intentionally.
