As RIA Novosti reports, Mexican journalist Carmen Aristegui asked Hunt about the reasons for the non-admission of RT and Sputnik.

“This is a great example of free media - the fact that you ask me these questions. This happened because we do not believe that they are free media. We consider them to be the mouthpiece of the Russian state, ”said the head of the British Foreign Ministry.

According to him, “free media discredits if you allow other organizations that call themselves independent journalists, but in fact are the mouthpiece of a very aggressive government that does not believe in free media.”

Earlier, the producer of the video agency Ruptly asked Hunt what he thought of not allowing RT to the conference. He replied that "this is not about freedom."

“What we did not let Russia Today? I do not think it is ... "- said the diplomat and left.

On July 5, it became known that the British Foreign Office did not issue RT accreditation for a conference on media freedom.

A representative from the Foreign Office stated that RT and Sputnik were not accredited "because of their active participation in the dissemination of misinformation."

The Kremlin called this situation a vivid manifestation of absurdity.
