Eric Lindblad, the 737 program manager, including the MAX, leaves Boeing, who has been stuck since mid-March in an unprecedented crisis following two close accidents that left 346 dead.

In an internal document sent Thursday to employees and which AFP obtained a copy, the head of the civil aviation division Kevin McAllister indicates that Mr. Lindblad has decided to retire.

Mr. Lindblad, who joined Boeing 34 years ago, was at the helm of Boeing's most profitable 737 program in just one year. He is the first senior operational manager to leave the aircraft manufacturer since the grounding of the entire 737 MAX fleet around the world.
