The fund to protect the federal capital from terrorist threats and provide security at national events now has a deficit of $ 6 million, writes the mayor of Washington to the president.

Muriel Bowser reminds Donald Trump that he never paid back the $ 7.3 million spent on his inauguration in 2017 and the $ 1.7 million that was used for the July 4th parade have put this fund into bankruptcy.

" We are asking for your help so that the people in the district do not have to cover these expenses and to allow us to continue to ensure the security of federal events, " she adds.

According to the municipality, the cost of the parade wanted by the president was six times higher than in previous years. The defense budget was also used. The military's participation in the ceremonies cost $ 1.2 million, not counting the cost of the air parade.

In a tweet posted before the parade, the president had assured that the expenses incurred for the parade were well worth it. But the overall budget of the event has still not been revealed.
