Benjamin Griveaux is the candidate of the Republic on the march for the municipal elections of March 2020 in Paris. The party of Emmanuel Macron has appointed the former spokesman of the government to face the current mayor Anne Hidalgo. Favorite, presented by his opponents as the candidate of the Elysee, he was preferred to deputies Hugues Renson and Cédric Villani. This investiture was to kick off the campaign in Paris and mark the end of internal rivalries. It did not go as planned.

And to say that a family photo between the three former rivals was considered at one time. Hugues Renson moved well to the party headquarters, but he quickly fled without a word to Benjamin Griveaux.

Cédric Villani did not even make the trip. The deputy mathematician does not hide his bitterness. In a message published before the decision of the executive board of En marche, he admits his defeat, tackles the "apparatus" of the party, denounces a locked process.

Above all, he does not support the nominee, although he is committed to doing so in writing. On an air of threat, it also leaves some doubt about its future.
