Awad Al-Rajoub-Hebron

The time was just before sunset on Saturday when the boy, Montaser Raed Abu Rumaila (10 years), came out of his house for a shop a few dozen meters away to buy some items.

While he was returning home, he was surprised by a Jewish settler who grabbed him from his neck and tried to stifle him.

Did not accompany the begging of the child and his pleas, but soon participated in beatings and kicking other settlers, estimated the number of twelve settlers.

Montasser and his father Raed Abu Rumaila accused Israeli soldiers of participating in the attack before the settlers fled to the settlement of Tel Rumeida after the Palestinian residents gathered in the area.

The child was bruised all over his body. He was tampered with his purchases and vandalism and smashed a phone he was carrying to communicate with the family during his discharge. In an incident, Montasser confirms that she is being repeated every day with the children of the old town of Hebron.

In return, he ended up in the hospital in a new round of settler attacks on Palestinian children in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron.

Some six hundred Israeli settlers live in five settlement outposts set up in Palestinian properties occupied by the Old City of Hebron after its occupation in 1967.

The father of the child Raed Abu Rumaila is active in monitoring and photographing the violations of the occupation and settlers in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, but this time he was not lucky to photograph his son, and arrived late after the settlers fled.

Nightmare Downtown
The shocking surprise of the activist Raed Abu Rumaila when he saw a recording of the attack on his son at the headquarters of the Israeli police, where he was summoned to provide a statement about the attack on his child, explaining that the police refused to release the registration for publication.

Abu Rumaila says life in the heart of Hebron has become a nightmare for the population, especially the children, and everyone is threatened by settlers who carry out their attacks in front of the soldiers.

The occupation surrounds the area of the Ibrahimi Mosque with an area of about one square kilometer with military barriers and strict procedures, while residents need prior coordination for the introduction of their objects and domestic needs.

Musa Abu Hashhash, who works for the Israeli human rights organization B'tselem, says that during his long period of work, he documented hundreds of attacks on children in old Hebron.

Looseness and partnership
He says that there is almost one day of violation of the right of children in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque, adding that he has documented hundreds of statements in this direction in recent years.

The documented cases are distributed between beatings, arrests or arrests of persons under the age of 13, describing the heart of Hebron as an unsafe place for children.

The Israeli human rights organization considered the Israeli soldiers to be partners in settler violence against the Palestinians, which "has long been an integral part of the routine of the occupation."

"The security forces (the army and the Israeli police) allow this violence, which endangers the lives of Palestinians and harms their bodies, property and lands, and sometimes extends their protection to them and even takes part in the attacks," it said on its website.

She pointed out that in most of the few cases where an investigation was opened, the file was closed without reaching anything, as part of an undeclared policy followed by the law enforcement agencies of tolerance and complacency.
