The new sarcophagus of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant will be put into operation on July 10

It is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

The event will be attended by representatives of the donor countries of the Chernobyl Shelter Fund, the EBRD, the State Agency for the Management of the Exclusion Zone, the Ministry of Environment and companies.

The event can also take part President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.

Construction of a new safe confinement began in 2012. The lifetime of the NSC is 100 years.

Earlier it was reported that the European Union will allocate € 3 million to ensure nuclear safety in Ukraine.

In April, Prime Minister of Ukraine Vladimir Groysman visited the new Shelter Confinement, which successfully completed a 72-hour trial operation. It was reported that the project was completed at 99%.
