US President Donald Trump on Tuesday received Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the start of a summit between the two countries to sign cooperation agreements and discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations in military, political and economic aspects.
The Emir said Qatar was a respectable leader in an important part of the world and described him as a great friend and a great partner. "We appreciate military cooperation with Qatar," he said,
Trump had earlier predicted the success of today's summit and described it as a good opportunity.
For his part, Emir of Qatar said that his country will sign a number of cooperation agreements with the United States today.
He said his visit to Washington underscored the values shared by Qatar and the United States.
"Our economic partnership is more than $ 185 billion and we plan to double the figure," he said.
