Republicans want no joint investiture with LREM for 2020 municipal elections BERTRAND GUAY / AFP

At RN as at LREM, we are in full investitures. On the right, it is another story following the slap of the Europeans and the resignation of Laurent Wauquiez. If forty elected officials were invested Tuesday night, thorny issues have not been decided.

Too explosive, the cases of Paris, Marseille, Nice or Toulouse will not be decided before mid-October. Jean Leonetti, the interim boss of the Republicans , assumes his strategy: let the opponent run out.

From the " clarification "

In his line of sight: the Republic in March and his attempt, " aggressive " according to the mayor of Antibes, to attract in his nets candidates from the right. To those, like the mayor of Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc, who could yield to the sirens of macronism, by putting on his list of personalities En Marche, or by accepting support, Jean Leonetti: " there will be no inauguration LR / LREM in the first round : the voters need clarification ".

A message addressed to the citizens tried to cross the Rubicon, but especially to the presidential party. " Not sure that the LREM label is a carrier to the municipal " argues the president of the LR.

It should not be decided immediately in cities where the political landscape is uncertain to decant and be sure to support 100% LR candidates and remove the ambiguity of a macron-compatible right-wing party. This could scare some of the contenders for the nomination, including the outgoing Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, who threatens to leave the party.
