According to a report published by the Middle East A British newspaper that the retired Libyan brigade allied Hafter lifting officer Mahmoud Mustafa al-Warfli, accused of war crimes and the International Tribunal, to a higher rank.

The report notes that in August 2017, the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for al-Worfali, the field commander of Haftar's forces, for the killing of at least 33 people. The prosecutor in the court, Fatu Bensuda, later demanded the arrest warrant.

The International Criminal Court's indictment accuses al-Worfli of responsibility for killing dozens, portraying the mass murder and spreading it on social networking sites.

The report notes that it was the first time the ICC issued an arrest warrant based solely on evidence from social media in a case involving a Libyan military commander.

The website adds that the charge against Worfli is based on seven alleged executions documented in seven separate videos.

The report notes that Bensouda has repeatedly called for the arrest of al-Urfali, and that she appealed to Hafer for his extradition in a letter to the UN Security Council in November 2017.
