It's now official. After several days of hesitation, Emmanuel Macron confirms Agnès Buzyn, his Minister of Health in his choice to derogate homeopathy. In France, small granules available in pharmacies were then reimbursed by social security as "conventional drugs". A choice that follows many heated debates between pros and anti-homeopathy.

Emmanuel Macron has therefore gone in the direction of the High Health Authority (HAS). At the end of June, this public organization recommended stopping the reimbursement of homeopathic products.

Despite multiple studies, the result is unequivocal: the therapeutic virtues of homeopathy are not proven.

For years, many doctors have been fighting against homeopathy . Last year, more than 120 of them launched an appeal against this practice. In this forum , they specify that homeopathy, like other "alternative medicines", is in no way scientific. They added that the practices were based on beliefs promising a miraculous and safe recovery.

Politicians have also been on the brink in recent weeks. Among them, Xavier Bertrand, Gerard Collomb or Laurent Wauquiez. They campaigned for a partial derogation of homeopathy, in the name of employment and purchasing power for employees of large laboratories in their regions.

The decision of Emmanuel Macron is therefore political, but also economic. Last year, according to health insurance, the reimbursement of homeopathy accounted for nearly 130 million euros out of a total of about 20 billion for all drugs reimbursed.
