“The announced teleconference is just a cheap but dangerous PR move before the election, the goal of which is to divide us into two camps again,” said Zelensky in his address published on his Facebook page.

The Ukrainian leader stressed that supporters of one such camp would be convinced by politicians that a dialogue between Ukraine and Russia, as "fraternal peoples", is possible.

At the same time, their opponents "will call to rebel and, under the guise of patriotism, will go to earn points for the elections."

Zelensky stressed that in any case, politicians will use the results of this teleconference in order to earn votes at the parliamentary elections on July 21.

In this situation, Zelensky called on all Ukrainians to "turn off emotions and turn on the head."

Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine called Zelensky to convene an urgent meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) because of the planned teleconference with Russia.

Later, NEWSONE TV channel decided to cancel the teleconference with Russia because of threats of physical violence.
