Hong Kong opposition leader Denise Ho tried to speak at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Monday (July 8th) about the crisis in Hong Kong. Also pop-rock singer and figure of the pro-democracy movement 2014, she was interrupted several times before asking for the urgent organization of a meeting.

Sitting in the speakers' gallery in the main hall of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, Denise Ho spoke with a determined air, before being quickly interrupted.

" Last month, two million people took part in a peaceful demonstration against the extradition bill that would remove Hong Kong's ultimate protection from interference by the Chinese government. The police fired rubber bullets and 152 tear gas grenades against the protesters, "she said.

In the face of speaking, China tries to interrupt, speaks at the same time, and the chairman of the meeting at the United Nations launches: " I give the floor to China ."

" Mr. President, I protest ," said the Chinese representative. Hong Kong belongs to China, but the person who just spoke put China and Hong Kong at the same level of authority. So I protest : this calls into question the principle of unity of China. "

Denise Ho will be interrupted twice before coming to her conclusion: "Will the United Nations hold an emergency meeting to protect the people of Hong Kong? In view of these abuses, will the United Nations remove China from this Human Rights Council ? "

According to the opponent, 70 people have been arrested since the beginning of the protest in June. After her participation in the umbrella revolt in 2014 , the singer's records are no longer sold in China and she herself is persona non grata .
