The spider-man reigned on the North American box office this weekend thanks to the success of the movie "Spider-Man: Far From Home", according to the final figures released Monday by the specialized company Exhibitor Relations.
The sequel to "Spider-Man: Homecoming", directed by Jon Watts and Tom Holland under the spider-man mask, generated $ 92.6 million for its first weekend of operation, from Friday to Sunday.
Taking advantage of the holiday of July 4 in the United States, this new Marvel film released Tuesday night has already garnered a total of $ 185 million in revenue in North America.
The film takes up the story of Spider-Man after the tragic conclusion of "Avengers: Endgame". Peter Parker, the heroic teenager who hides under the mask of the spider-man, is anxiously waiting to go on a tour of Europe with his high school, while ruminating on his love at first sight for a girl in his class.
It is ahead of Pixar's latest production, "Toy Story 4", topping last week, with $ 33.9 million (306.1 in three weeks).
The podium is completed by Danny Boyle's "Yesterday", a timeless comedy in which a musician played by Himesh Patel wakes up in a world where the Beatles never existed and where he is the only one to remember their music (10, 1 million, 36.2 in two weeks).
The fourth-place box office is occupied by the horror film "Annabelle: The House of Evil", the seventh in the universe "Conjuring", with its 9.5 million dollars (49.8 million in two weeks ).
