Syrian press sites and pro-regime accounts have circulated on the websites that President Bashar al-Assad has made important changes to senior leaders in the security services.

The former Syrian ambassador to Jordan, Bahjat Suleiman, said the new appointments included the appointment of Major General Nasser al-Ali as head of the Political Security Directorate, replacing Major General Hossam Luka, who was appointed director of the General Intelligence Department or the State Security.

The new changes also included the appointment of Major General Nasser Deeb as Director of the Criminal Security Department, replacing Major General Safwan Issa, and the appointment of General Ghassan Jodat Ismail as Director of the Air Intelligence Directorate, the country's most famous security apparatus.

The pages of the pro-Syrian regime on Facebook said on Monday that Assad appointed Major General Ali Mamluk as his deputy for security affairs.

The EU has already imposed economic sanctions on its owner because of its involvement in violence against demonstrators. Under these sanctions, EU states are prohibited from dealing with a property and allowing it to enter its territory.

The new security changes - according to press sources - in the context of changes made by the Syrian regime to the leadership of the main branches of intelligence in the country, usually does not officially announce the changes affecting the security forces and the military.
