Wales (Great Britain) won Sunday at the Dorat (Haute-Vienne), where took place the sheep shearing world championship, two out of three events in individual, the machine mowing and the wool sorting while the New Zealand has won the mowing category (scissors), the organizers said.

The winners are Welsh riders Richard Jones (mowing machine) and Aled Jones (wool sorting), alongside New Zealander Allan Oldfield (mowing to the forces).

In team, Scotland (Gavin Mutch and Calum Shaw) wins the machine mowing while New Zealand, mistress in the shearing of sheep, wins with the pair Allan Oldfield and Tony Dobbs the mowing to the forces and with Pagan Karauria and Sheree Alabaster sorting wool.

In 2017, New Zealanders won at home the world in the sorting category of wool and machine mowing, South Africa in the category of the forces.

The South African, Mayenseke Shweni, who won the world championships in 2014 and 2017 to the forces, this time ranks second.

Only two people represented their country for each category.

In the notes, the speed but especially the quality of the mowing were taken into account during this championship, which is a showcase of the trade.

For this first in France, and even in continental Europe since the creation of the championship in 1977, a handful of enthusiasts took up the challenge of organizing this World Cup in the small town of Dorat in central France.

The Association for the Worldwide Mowing of Sheep (AMTM), chaired by Christophe Riffaud, was specially created to organize the event and find a million euros of budget to welcome more than 300 competitors from 34 countries, from Japan to Finland via Uruguay and the Cook Islands.

For four days, they "undressed" 5,000 sheep at this World Cup which also included the international competition "All Nations" and the last events of the championship of France.

On the seven hectares of football club and surrounding fields, many other events took place on the sidelines of the championship, to entertain the 62,000 spectators present.

The next edition will take place in 2022 in Edinburgh, Scotland.
