RAK has started using a smart application called the "augmented reality measurement", which can be downloaded in mobile phones. It works without an internet chip at the sea to measure the length of small fish, which are forbidden to be caught and sold in the market. For the year 2015 on the prevention of fishing and sale of fish that are less than the permissible limit. The Ministry has identified 21 species of fish that are prohibited from catching small fish, not less than 23 cm to 60 cm, depending on the type of fish.

"The smart application is part of the smart initiatives launched by the association to develop the fishermen's work and to save them time and effort while working on the sea," said Hamid Al Zaabi, Vice President of the Fishermen's Association in Ras Al Khaimah. "Last year, The Internet to measure the length of small fish after the catch in order to return to the sea, but most fishermen were unable to use the application, because they are at long distances in the sea, not covered by communication networks, which leads to cutting off the Internet and the disruption of the application.

He explained that some fishermen do not have the ability to measure the length of small fish through the eye or through the measurement tools available to them, where the quantities of small fish that are not caught by them are seized by the inspectors of the competent authorities upon arrival at fishing ports and fish market, An initiative to help fishermen return the forbidden fish to the sea through smart application «measuring the enhanced reality», and to preserve the fish wealth.

He added that the association is in the process of generalizing the smart application of "measuring the enhanced reality" on the fishermen in Ras Al Khaimah, training them in the way it is used, and determining the length of fish that are prohibited from fishing, trading and selling in the markets.

Al-Zaabi pointed out that the application allows fishermen to fish with video technology to determine their length through the intelligent application, which will measure the length of the fish accurately from head to tail by moving the fisherman measurement line with his finger to determine the length of the fish and calculate its measurement. With the decision of the Ministry of Climate Change and the Environment, he must bring them back alive to the sea again, to strengthen and maintain the fishery.

He pointed out that some fishermen were attending the fish they catch to the fish market without confirming the length and measurement, which expose them to violations by the inspectors in the market, and said that smart application will greatly reduce the violations of fishermen, and also enhance the availability of large fish at the sales. He added that some ancient fishermen do not prefer the use of smart phones, and still retain traditional old phones, which prevents them from using smart application in the sea, pointing out that the Assembly constantly urges them to use the tape measure to determine the length of small fish and return to the sea. He explained that the ministry has set conditions for fish species and their length, and the minimum length of fishing allowed and sold in the markets, where 21 species of local fish have been identified that prevent fishing, which is small in length.
