Israel's official "Arabic" account revealed that during his visit to Abu Dhabi, the Israeli Foreign Minister launched an initiative to link Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries through Jordan to the Israeli railway network and Haifa port in the Mediterranean.

"The initiative results in shorter, cheaper and safer regional trade routes that will support the economies of countries," said the statement.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry revealed the visit of Minister Israel Katz to the UAE capital Abu Dhabi about a week ago, where he discussed with a senior Emirati official regional aspects and relations between the two sides.

The ministry said in a statement that the Israeli foreign minister visited Abu Dhabi to participate in the United Nations Conference on Environment, and that he had launched the "Regional Peace Paths" initiative, which includes linking the economic and strategic fields between Saudi Arabia and the Gulf countries via Jordan to Israel's rail network.

Kats, who was minister of economy last year, had already presented a railway project linking his country and the Mediterranean with Gulf states, including Saudi Arabia.

The line runs from the port of Haifa through the city of Bisan in the Jordan Valley, through the Sheikh Hussein crossing to the Jordanian city of Irbid, to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
