The wife of former Interpol Chinese leader Meng Hongwei, Grace Meng, is turning against the international criminal police organization. It decided this weekend to initiate proceedings against Interpol before the Permanent Court of Arbitration of The Hague (CPA). She blames the organization for its lack of protection and support after the death of her husband in September 2018. A case that had hit the headlines.

It was during a trip to China that the powerful boss of Interpol disappeared. For several days, there was no news until the Chinese authorities announced his arrest for corruption without providing evidence for the charge.

The international organization that tracks criminals on the run is discreet. No comment, no question of asking for accounts in Beijing. This attitude is strongly condemned by the wife of Meng Hongwei , who has been granted asylum in France. She accuses Interpol " of complicity with the illicit acts of the Chinese government ".

The organization would not have protected her family, so she decided to launch proceedings against Interpol before the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. An institution created more than 100 years ago to facilitate the resolution of disputes between states.

Grace Meng wants the court to rule on Interpol's responsibility in arresting her husband. Contacted by RFI, Grace Meng's lawyer did not want to speak on this matter.
