Andy Murray and Pierre-Hugues Herbert were eliminated on Saturday in the second round of the Wimbledon double, but the Brit then caught up with the first round of mixed doubles with Serena Williams.

The day started rather badly for the Scotsman: his French partner and he were rather dreadly beaten by the Croatian pair Nikoka Mektic and Franko Skugor in four sets, 6-7 (7/4), 6-4, 6-2 , 6-3.

Fortunately for the winner of three Grand Slam tournaments, he then returned to Central Court with his new mixed doubles partner, former World No.1 Serena Williams.

With their ten wins in singles at Wimbledon, the pair swept the pair Andreas Mies-Alexa Guarachi in two sets, 6-4, 6-1.

Murray, 32, made his comeback at the Queen's tournament after six months of absence from a hip operation. He had signed his return with a double victory with Feliciano Lopez.
