At the end of the rally on Place de la République, on Saturday, some forty people went to the ground, shouting "Never again!" RFI / Géraud Bosman-Delzons

While the number of feminicides has been on the rise for six months, several hundred people have responded in Paris to the call of a group of relatives of victims who denounced the inertia of the state, despite the promises.

The latest victim does not go back to this Saturday morning, in Perpignan (south). She was 32 years old, was killed with knives. The companion is the main suspect, a dispute the probable cause. Two days ago, near Reims (north-east), a man crushes his companion with his 4x4 on the town hall square, around 1am. Later in the day, in Saint-Denis, a suburb of Paris, a pregnant woman of 20 years is stabbed by her companion. She does not survive.

The macabre litany is long: since January, in France, 74 women were killed by their spouse, or ex-spouse, according to a feminist collective administrator of Facebook page Féminicides by journeyman or ex . That's 12 per month. The years pass, and the phenomenon is frightfully regular: around 130 every year, according to official figures.

In recent days, famous or not famous voices have risen. A Collective of relatives and families of victims of feminicide cries its fed up June 29 in Le Parisien - "Protect them! » . In Le Monde , they are figures of French feminism that support in a direct apostrophe to the head of state: " Feminicides are not inevitable: Mr. President, react " ; the next day, July 5, it is the politics that take over: 150 senators sign in Libération " Feminicides: where is the great cause of the quinquennium? "

This Saturday in the heart of the capital, more than a thousand people (2000 according to the organizers) came to answer the call of the collective of families of victims. A large majority of women, men also in number, as well as many activists from various feminist associations, often young. Benjamin D., 22, came specially from Dijon where he joined the local committee of Nous Toutes. " I start to argue because I feel concerned, it's a real scandal. But it is related to all the other causes that I defend: ecology, anti-capitalism, anti-racism and feminism . "

Céline Lolivret does not come from activism. She speaks as close to the victim. Her childhood friend, Julie Douib, was killed by her ex-companion at age 35 in Corsica on March 3rd. The echo of the drama has been widely relayed . " A year before her death, she had told me to be beaten. I am also a battered woman, so it facilitates exchanges "says Celine, tired. After several months of abuse, Julie decides not to return home with her children. " She was afraid for her life, her spouse was allowed to carry a weapon. She complained six times, asking for help . " Nothing to do, the violent ex continues to prowl, armed. Julie does not feel listened to. He ends up shooting him at his new home. The man then surrendered to the police and is waiting for his trial.

As for Julie, the separation of the couple is the immediate cause of the death of Aïssatou Sow at 21, " in full bloom ", still saddens her cousin Claudine Agossa. The news had also made headlines. In September 2016, Aïssatou is found lying in a building. Beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend who did not agree to see her return in the evening. They had been separated for a year and a half. His uncle Noël Agossa, initiator of the collective Plus jamais ça and organizer of the Paris demonstration, explains: " Aïssatou had filed 14 complaints for assault and battery! ". But " under control ", she had retracted. This Monday, Noël Agossa reveals that he will file the statutes of a new association: Family Feminicide France.

At the podium, we are calling for 74 seconds of silence. Each is marked by a carillon. The sun is lead. " This is non-assistance to anyone in danger ," says actress Muriel Robin on the stage. Let us help the associations that do the work of the state . And to question the president: " You spoke of a national cause, what are you waiting for? What is a woman's life worth to you? I'm waiting for an answer. "

For the collective, all these women " have not been sufficiently protected ". It lists solutions, very concrete, to " put an end to this massacre ": " take and systematic treatment of complaints, granting legal aid from the complaint, emergency shelter, protection order, electronic bracelets, etc.. " It was a first gathering, we will not be silent ," conclude the activists in the gallery, asking for a Grenelle of violence against women and Emmanuel Macron to keep his promises.

For most interviewees of all ages, violence against women and impunity for perpetrators are the result of a wider problem of substance. They point to the place of women in society, stereotyped images that are referred to them, necessarily fragile, but also men, necessarily virile. They are also indignant at the low level of prevention and education, which should come at an early age. " We must institute a non-violence certificate at school to learn to live together, " insists the activist of the Georgette Sand association. " It will make children talk, girls, among others, who are taught too much to be quiet, to be wise. Her colleague, Marguerite Nebelsztein, completes: " While we do not teach men to restrain their impulses. But women are not the receptacle of the impulses of men! In the group, only one boy: " Yes, it may have happened to me to commit acts of violence against women. I am aware of this unequal social structure, which must be deconstructed . "

In the meantime, it is the manifestation that is deconstructed. Two policemen and gendarmes in plainclothes demand the dispersal. " There are other protests that take over, " says one of them. A few meters, "yellow vests" stomp to take place in their turn.
