France's No. 1 Gael Monfils dropped out of the Wimbledon first round on Monday as he was against his compatriot Ugo Humbert.

The 15th world player forfeited while being led 3-0 in the fifth set.

Before dropping out, the N.16 had won the first two rounds before getting back in the next two, 6-7 (8/6), 3-6, 6-4, 7-5.

Before the tournament, the Parisian had explained to be touched ankle. He had, however, relaxed with Nick Kyrgios on London turf.

In the next round, Humbert will face the winner of the match between the Italian Lorenzo Sonego and the Spanish Marcel Granollers.
