“When the war began in the east, when Russia had already captured and annexed the Russian Crimea, we again waited for a change,” Vakarchuk said.

Later in an interview with the Observer edition, commenting on this situation, he said that he had made a reservation and that “the territorial integrity and statehood of Ukraine is an absolute value”.

In February, the former Ukrainian leader Petro Poroshenko, during a speech at a rally in the city of Zholkva, made a reservation calling Ukraine an “aggressor”.

Crimea became the Russian region after the referendum held there in March 2014, in which the majority of residents spoke in favor of reunification with Russia.
