Tunisian President Béji Kayed Sibsi left Tunisia's military hospital at his residence after he was hospitalized last Thursday in critical condition.

"The Presidency of the Republic has learned that President Béji Kayed Sibsi left the military hospital in Tunis for his residence in Carthage on the night of Monday, July 1, 2019 after receiving the necessary treatment and recovery," the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.

"The head of state extends his sincere appreciation and gratitude to the medical team at the military hospital and thanked all those who asked to check on his health."

The presidential page on Facebook posted a picture of Sabsi when he left the military hospital.

The Tunisian presidency announced last Thursday that Sibsi was transferred to the military hospital because of a severe health problem, did not explain the nature of the discomfort.

Tunisian Prime Minister Yousuf al-Shahid said he visited al-Sibsi at the military hospital and confirmed that he was being treated and cared for and called for the publication of rumors that cause confusion.

Hafez Qaid al-Sibsi, son of the Tunisian president has confirmed in private statements to Al Jazeera Net on Sunday that the president is in good health and that "he will leave the hospital tomorrow or after tomorrow," and denounced what was raised in foreign and Gulf media about his death, saying it is deliberate rumors, By targeting the democratic transition in Tunisia.
