The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the adoption of a development plan for the Dubai Maritime Channel's maritime transport services by establishing lines and stations to be implemented according to the 2030-2020 plan to develop Dubai Maritime Water Services in line with the development rate along the Canal, As part of its efforts to promote and support maritime transport routes, routes and means.

"The plan includes three developmental stages, the first of which is short term for the years 2019-2020, and has been implemented in early April," said Mohammed Abu Bakr Al Hashemi, Director of Maritime Transport at the Authority's Public Transport Agency. The plan includes modifying the current track of Dubai Water Channel, Al-Jadaf, Dubai Waterfront, Sheikh Zayed and Dubai Water Canal, with the cancellation of the Marassi station from the current line and the use of the water bus on the mentioned route instead of Ferry Dubai. The water taxi will continue to operate at the current stations of the canal.

Al Hashimi added that, "In line with the new modifications, two passenger lines have been developed in the service of the Abra to connect the waterfront stations, Marais and Sheikh Zayed. By 2020, the two modes of transport will be increased to become two water buses on the modified line and three on the modern passenger line. Reducing the time of the flow and meet the needs of service users on the lines mentioned ».

"As for the mid-term phase of 2025, nine stations will be operated in the middle segment of the canal and added to the current stations and fed by the development of five new passenger lines. The current route of the water bus will be modified by adding two stations, And the number of means to be added is a water bus and five transports for the years 2025 and 2026 ».

He pointed out that the long-term phase of 2030, including the addition of four stations near the coastline, after the completion of the full implementation of the development plan.
