Alexis Vuillermoz replaces Pierre Latour in the AG2R La Mondiale team who will participate from Saturday in the Tour de France.

Alexis Gougeard was also selected to the French team headed by Romain Bardet.

"After having exchanged with Pierre Latour, we decided that it was more reasonable to replace him," said Vincent Lavenu, the head of the Savoyard formation, on the evening of the French championship.

"He has been struggling since returning to the competition and it was taking risks to send him on a race like the Tour de France," added Vincent Lavenu.

Injured in a fall in February, the double champion of France against the clock (2017, 2018) only resumed late in the competition, early June.

Vuillermoz, for one, cut after the Giro. The Jurassien, stage winner in the Tour in 2015, has had two days of racing since the end of the Tour of Italy, the Mont Ventoux Challenges and the French championship.
