Temperatures began to fall in much of France, except for the east and south.

After six days of exceptional heatwave for a month of June, much of France began to find more breathable temperatures Sunday, with a clear refresh in the northwest but still hot in the east and in South. While the canicular episode now concerns a portion "from the east of Occitania to Alsace and the Mediterranean regions", temperatures should continue to decline Monday over a large part of the country, notes Météo-France.

Orange vigilance is maintained in 32 departments. They are located in the east and in a large third south-east of the country, from the Aude to Bas-Rhin, including the Massif Central, the Riviera and the Alps. In this zone, mercury continues to fly with "still near 40 ° C in the Gard".

Lower temperatures everywhere from Tuesday

It will be necessary nevertheless to wait until Tuesday so that the whole country finds lower temperatures, even if these "should remain above the normal of season on the southern half". In hot areas, ozone pollution, which often accompanies heat waves, persists. Thus, five of the six departments of the Paca region (except Hautes Alpes) are on alert 2 for pollution, Sunday and Monday.

The differentiated traffic, set up for several days in several cities in France, will be repeated Monday in Annecy (vignettes Crit'Air 0 to 3 only allowed), Lyon and Villeurbanne (0 to 2). This measure will however be lifted Monday in Paris, where it was in place since Wednesday, and in Strasbourg, where it had been introduced since Thursday. The heat wave from the Sahara, which also stifled the rest of Europe (Germany beat Sunday a temperature record for June), is unpublished by its intensity and precocity for a month of June.
