Photo of El Salvador immigrant woman drowning in the Rio Grande River on the US-Mexico border

A picture of a father and a young daughter immigrating to the United States to swim across the river to the United States is shocking.

Like a photo of a three-year-old child, Alejandro Kurdi, who showed a crisis of Syrian refugees, he is regarded as a photograph that reveals the tragedy that is happening on the American and Mexican borders.

In a photo released by the Associated Press on Tuesday, a body of a man and a baby are lying on the ground in a row on the river.

The baby was put in a black t-shirt that was rolled up to his dad's breast and wrapped around his dad's neck with one arm.

This is a picture taken by Julia Leduc, photographer of Lahore Nada, Mexico.

According to Lahore Nada, the main character in the picture is El Salvador's Oscar Alberto Martinez Ramirez (25) and his 23-month-old daughter Valeria.

The family left for El Salvador on April 3, arriving at the border of the United States and Mexico on the 23rd after staying in the immigrant shelter of Tapasula, southern Mexico 's border, for about two months.

My dad, Martinez, decided to swim the Rio Grande River and enter the United States.

First, she grabbed her daughter Valeria and crossed the river. She sat her daughter on the riverbank and began to swim again to pick up her wife across the street.

Then the daughter, who had seen her father moving away, jumped back into the river.

Dad came back and managed to grab his daughter, put it in his T-shirt and secure it tightly, but it was swept away with the rush.

Tania Vanessa Avalos, 21, who watched this scene from across the street, told police that the scene was described in tears and screams, photographer Leduc told AP.

The body of the woman was found on a river in Mata Moros, Mexico, hundreds of meters away from where she was swept away the next morning.

The figure of Valeria still wrapped around his dad's neck shows that he did not want to miss him until the last minute.

The tragic picture reminds me of a photo of Syrian refugee kid Kurdish in 2015, AP reported.

A photo of Kurdish, a three-year-old man who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea and pushed to the Turkish beach, was a symbolic image of the Syrian refugee crisis in the international community.

Tragedies continue on the US and Mexican borders, as immigrants from Central America, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras continue to migrate to the United States to avoid poverty and violence.

Last year, 283 immigrants lost their lives in the rivers and deserts of the border.

This year's numbers have not been announced yet, but the tragic news has been heard constantly.

The previous day, four immigrants were found dead near the Rio Grande River - two infants, one infant and a young woman.

It was presumed that it was caused by the heat.

It was not known why the Martinez family, who had reached the US-Mexico border and visited the US consulate, decided to swim the river instead of applying for asylum.

However, the AP has said it is unable to pledge its application schedule because of the length of the asylum queue for each border.

At the consulate there are 40 to 45 asylum interviews each week, with a waiting list of between 800 and 1,700.

Immigrants must live in poor reception facilities on the border while waiting for months or years to get asylum.

"This photo shows how dangerous the US policy of sending asylum seekers back to Mexico and limiting the number of US arrivals," said Maurin Meyer, an immigrant rights activist, in the AP.
