After the self-proclaimed victory of Mohamed Ould Ghazouani in the Mauritanian presidential election, opposition candidates said Sunday (June 23rd) reject the results, even before their official publication by the CENI.

" We have found that the government has lost the electoral battle ," said the four candidates of the Mauritanian opposition after a joint meeting, organized after the self-proclaimed victory of Mohamed Ould Ghazouani in the Mauritanian presidential election. " We have seized the Ceni, which has said that it is outraged by this irresponsible act that overrides the legal institution ," said Sidi Mohamed Ould Boubakar, Biram Dah Abeid, Mohamed Ould Maouloud and Kane Hamidou Baba.

At dawn, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani made a statement to a selected audience, at the Palais des Congrès in Nouakchott and in the presence of the outgoing head of state Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz, his main supporter. He proclaimed himself a winner, in the first round, and with a large lead, according to his sources in the Ceni.

Two systems are used to compile the results: one computer and the other physical. For the moment, it is only a question of the computer compilation, whose Céni does not doubt efficiency. This system has already been used for the legislative elections last year. Nevertheless, the official results will be those of the physical minutes. The Ceni is hoping to announce them tonight or tomorrow.
