The French Minister of Health Agnès Buzyn. CHRISTOPHE ARCHAMBAULT / AFP

The draft reform on bioethics currently under consideration by the Council of State is to be presented in July. In an interview in the Sunday newspaper , Health Minister Agnès Buzyn, announces wanting to lift the veil on parentage for children born through a donor. As part of the opening to the PMA (Medically assisted procreation) to all women, the end of the absolute anonymity of the donor is therefore a major change.

To allow a child access to its origins is one of the objectives of the bioethics bill and it is a revolution. The Minister of Health is therefore in favor of " lifting the veil on the origin of descent for all ".

Clarifying that the anonymity at the time of the donation will be preserved, but then it will be a question of allowing the child to have access to his history and the identity of his donor when he reaches 18 years old.

" Young people who ask to know the identity of their donor will not take the latter for a parent. Being a parent is not gametes, but love, "she says.

Taking the example of countries that have widespread access to origins, she says she does not fear a drop in donations, because the minister adds, " they are not the same people who give ."

Agnès Buzyn does not wish to offend anybody and hopes for a calm debate, not ignoring that the debate agitates the National Assembly until within the majority.

To prevent the tensions, Gilles Le Gendre, the president of the group The Republic in march to the Assembly, has just announced the launching of a working group on these highly sensitive issues.
