The candidate of the opposition winner of the election of the mayor of Istanbul, Akram Emamoglu, called for an urgent meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, expressing his hope that the result of the elections will bring good to Istanbul.

"Mr. President, I am ready to work with you in full coordination, and I am asking you to meet you as soon as possible," Imamoglu told Erdogan.

"I will work hard without discrimination against anyone," he said, before repeating the motto of his campaign: "Everything will be fine."

"These elections mean opening a new page; it is a new beginning," Oglu said. He seems to be soft on his political rhetoric toward his opponents. He said that all of Istanbul and Turkey won this election, not one group or party.

With 99% of the vote counted, Emam Oglu got 54%, compared to Ben Ali Yildirim, who won 45%.

Oglu made more than 775,000 votes, a big increase from the March election when he won only 13,000.
