Amazon is exploring the possibility of using aircraft not only to deliver parcels, but also to provide monitoring as a service to its customers, in accordance with a patent granted by the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Can be used to record videos for customers such as surveillance of the house or car, after the approval of the collection of private data for the user, for example can alert the client to the broken window of the house, or a fire or if the garage door is open during the day.

According to the patent, the monitoring function of a flying craft can be limited by geographical shadows, a technique used to draw virtual boundaries around controlled property. Any image or data taken by a marching aircraft outside the geographic fence will be removed.

Amazon submitted the patent application in 2015 and was approved on June 4.

Earlier this month, Amazon announced that it would begin to operate marlin aircraft to deliver packages to customers in 30 minutes or less in the coming months.
