“There are no victims among the civilian population”: what is known about the attack on policemen in Grozny

In the center of Grozny, a man stabbed two policemen with a knife and was eliminated by return fire. This was stated in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic.

The Office said that the incident occurred at about 18:00 local time on Aslanbek Sharipov Street. A traffic police officer stopped a Hyundai car to check the driver's documents, but he attacked a law enforcement officer with a knife.

“The attacker destroyed the response fire. A smooth-bore gun was found and removed in the car, ”the Interior Ministry reported.

The police officer was helped by the Rosgvardiec, who was returning from service and intervened in the situation.

“A staff member of the Rosguard, who saw what was happening, struck an intruder with a firearm and was injured by the assailant,” the agency told RIA Novosti.

“Both law enforcement officers for medical care were taken to hospital. Thanks to competent and professional actions of the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Rosguard among the civilian population, there are no victims, ”the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Chechen Republic noted.

Later, it became clear that the wounded police officer was in a state of moderate severity.

According to the Chechen Interior Ministry, the attacker was a resident of the republic born in 1997. His identity is established.

Interfax, citing its own sources, said that the attacker would be checked for communications with terrorists.

“At the moment, work is underway to establish a young man’s contacts. In particular, it is carefully studied whether it was associated with extremist or terrorist organizations, ”the agency’s source said, noting that the motives for the attack have not yet been established.

Police Cases

Since the beginning of the year in Russia there have been several cases of law enforcement officials. In June, a suspect, armed with a knife, attacked a district police officer in the Chelyabinsk region. A policeman arrived on a call to one of the villages and found the body of a woman there. The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was attacked by the son of the murdered mistress, as a result of which the policeman used a service weapon. According to preliminary estimates, his actions were recognized legitimate.

At the end of May, a police officer was attacked in the Tula region. According to various sources, the attackers took possession of the guns of the law enforcement officer and shot him several times.

In April, in the Moscow region of Noginsk, an employee of the departmental security service of the Russian Guard was attacked by a man with a knife. A law enforcement officer was not in the service and was walking a dog. The wounded rosgvardeets managed to neutralize the assailant and held him until the arrival of the police and ambulance.

Prior to this, several attacks on law enforcement officials were recorded in March.

In Stary Oskol at the end of March, a man with a knife attacked two policemen. The attacker stole the goods in one of the shops and tried to escape after seeing the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, they overtook him and tried to arrest him, during which the man wounded the policeman with a knife. His colleague opened fire.

In the same month, a policeman died in Nizhnekamsk as a result of an attack with a knife. An unknown man attacked a district policeman with a knife and wounded him. A colleague of a policeman shot the attacker, but the wounded Interior Officer died in an ambulance on the way to the hospital.

In early February, a policeman was injured in Moscow during a domestic conflict. The police officer was out of the service, the attacker was detained. The day before, in the Moscow region, a policeman was stabbed and died in hospital.

A large-scale incident occurred at the end of January in Nalchik. Then four men attacked the DPS patrol during the vehicle inspection. They used knives against the police, they responded with fire. As a result, three attackers were killed, one wounded.
