In Venezuela, the humanitarian situation is worsening day by day, and part of the population is demanding that humanitarian aid be sent to the country, including that of the Red Cross promised in late March. Only a cargo of 24 tons entered mid-April and since then nothing. After more than a month and a half of silence, the Red Cross assured this Wednesday, June 5th that new shipments of humanitarian aid would be delivered in the coming days.

With the military uprising of April 30, the Red Cross had to postpone its delivery of humanitarian aid. Since then, she has been negotiating to obtain a green light from the various actors, and this should not be long in coming to an end.

" Right now, our logistics center in Panama already has a shipment ready for delivery. And in addition, the Italian Red Cross has offered us a very important cargo that is also ready, "said Luis Farias, spokesman for the Venezuelan Red Cross.

The opacity around the distribution of the aid already delivered is worrying Venezuela, especially since Red Cross drugs are resold on the black market. According to Luis Farias, the distribution is unobtrusive to avoid any political recovery, and the idea of misappropriation of aid is simply absurd.

" To avoid this kind of drift, the Red Cross always distributes only the doses of medicine needed by those in need. It is our doctors who determine how many days such a patient will need such a drug. What happens is that there are rumors, pictures that we think we see our drugs, but they are not those of the Red Cross, "he says.

For the moment, electric generators and drugs have been distributed in about ten hospitals. Deliveries should be spread over the next twelve months. But the Red Cross recalls that his help will not be enough to bring Venezuela out of the crisis.
