“First, whether Ukraine will join the EU or not is not yet known. It is not very much expected there, like NATO, because you have to pay for all this. To be a member of the European Union, it is necessary to meet certain standards, and Kiev is not yet ready for this. Today, the leader of Ukraine, who has received such great confidence, is too early to make certain statements, because he has not yet fully understood economic and political issues. Many of the populist statements inherent in the election campaign are no longer valid today, ”he said.

The deputy also noted that Ukrainian politicians, in their desire to join the European Union and constantly indulging and playing up to the Europeans, led the country to very serious consequences.

“So today Zelensky needs to think about how to get out of this situation. The scene and the political platform are two different things. I suggest that the new Ukrainian leader should not be in a hurry and think before making serious political statements, ”Chep concluded.

Earlier, Zelensky said that Ukraine’s entry into the European Union would be the death of the Russian “imperial project”.

The Ukrainian leader noted that this would open "the path to democratic change in Russia and throughout the entire post-Soviet space."
