The young guard at Orléans Saran Prison, who had given a detainee drugs, alcohol and telephones, was also banned from practicing this profession.

A young supervisor from Orléans-Saran prison was sentenced Wednesday to 18 months in prison including 12 suspended for having passed drugs, alcohol and smartphones to a detainee who had seduced her.

The detainee, awaiting another trial for rape scheduled for next June in the Assize Court of Loiret, was sentenced to three years. His sister, who supplied drugs and telephones, was sentenced to one year, including six months suspended. The 24-year-old supervisor, who had been in post for six months and who had just been appointed, was also banned from practicing this profession.

Cannabis, vodka and smartphones

Between September and December 2018, she had provided the inmate of 32 years cannabis, a bottle of vodka and several smartphones whose plastic shell is undetectable. The phones, sold between 600 and 800 euros, were discovered in January. The judicial police had gone back to their source ten days after their discovery.

Before the judges, on Wednesday, the supervisor acknowledged the facts. "I wanted to talk and then shame (...) I locked myself in the lie and my stupidity". Denying any corruption, however, she admitted receiving a box of cosmetics, a dress and a jewel of the detainee's sister judged also. The detainee, on the contrary, denied any traffic accusing the supervisor of revenge by jealousy. The two women, detained since May 15 after a postponement of a first hearing, have not been detained.
