“When (US Secretary of State. - RT ) Mike Pompeo came (to Sochi. - RT ), he confirmed Donald Trump’s interest to hold such a meeting, to which we said that we are always ready for this,” Lavrov explained, noting that the resumption of normal dialogue is in the interests of both parties.

He also added that if Washington makes a proposal to hold a meeting of the two leaders, Moscow will be ready to consider it.

“So far, we have not received any specific proposals,” the minister specified.

Earlier, Russian leader’s aide Yury Ushakov and presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reported that no impulses from the United States aimed at preparing the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump at the G20 summit in Osaka have yet been received.

On May 13, Trump announced his intention to meet with Putin and PRC Chairman Xi Jinping during a summit in Japan.
