Comedians in period dress aboard the D-Day Express linking Paris to Caen. S.Geneste / RFI

Since the beginning of June, thousands of people have come to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Normandy Landings. And most often, they take the train. Specific welcome on the quays of Paris Saint-Lazare, animation in the trains to rediscover the highlights of the D-Day and the Liberation, actors in period dress.

In a train between Paris and Normandy, a funny show takes place among travelers. The brakes are barely loosened, the locomotive and its cars leave Paris, the performance has just begun. Joseph wears the staff uniform of the US Army. He reads letters from soldiers: " Believe me, I, who speaks to you knowingly, I tell you that nothing is lost for France ".

" The day before, they were in the boats. They were on the docks, they were in England. We even hear their accents. We hear their pain. We hear that they talk to their families. And they just say they are alone. And that's perhaps the most impressive, "says Joseph.

The readings are sequenced by songs. Black dress and high heels, Nadine Courant traces all the repertoire of the time: " I feel very concerned. I am very moved when I sing those songs. The other day we had a 95-year veteran with us, a Canadian. And so it's extremely moving. He sang songs, so I sang with him. It was very rewarding .

The passengers of the train then become spectators, like Selima who does not sulk his pleasure: " I find that the songs, the accordion ... it brings us back in time. It's very beautiful .

Once the show is over, the wagon turned into a theater becomes calm, the time to arrive on the beaches of the D-Day.
